Summary
What does this car say about you?
Probably that we think we're a bit middle class and a bit dull!
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
It's big.
Would you buy this car again and why?
After twenty odd years of loving VW's, this car could be my last. It is our third VW in a row to have problems with the exhaust. Quality wise it doesn't come close to my old X reg VW Golf SE TDI. That car was amazing and I had no problems for the first five years of owning it. The build quality felt far superior, VW's just feel more plasticky these days! I cannot fault how economical it is on fuel but I'm making up for those savings with repair costs.
What are you likely to buy next?
After ridiculous repair bills we are now considering leasing. This was the newest at three years old and most expensive car I've ever bought, but it has cost me the most money in repairs of any car I've had, and I've had a few!

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
It's a comfortable drive, nothing exciting at all. My husband drives a BMW 320 and hates driving mine. He thinks it's like driving a sofa around;).

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
The in car entertainment system failed completely when the car was almost four years old. VW quoted £2000 for a new one! After 8 months with nothing, we managed to get it repaired via the internet for about £200. This year it's had the EGR valve repaired and another software update, this cost £500 aprox with some goodwill from VW. Now the electronic parking break has failed and there is a problem with the turbo charger. Another almost £700 bill from VW. I must add, it is five years old now, it is an 09 plate but I couldn't enter that on the initial car entry. It only has 58000 on the clock and is regularly serviced.
What's most practical about your car?
The size. It's a brilliant family car and very comfortable.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Rear parking camera is brilliant. The kids love the DVD option.
