Volkswagen Passat Estate (2015 - 2024) 1.4 TSI GTE 5d DSG Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
Wanted a plug in hybrid estate that would allow my (fairly short) daily commute all on electric but still allow long journeys without needing charging breaks. Choice came down to this, Mercedes C350E or Volvo V560. Liked the look of Merc but worried by reports of very limited electric range and Volvo less load space plus poor reviews of diesel so came down to Passat.
It meets my needs flawlessly. I have noticed in winter I have to watch the use of heater etc. or risk not quite making round trip, but by using heated seat instead of car can keep comfortable and make return trip.
Also pretty impressed with Hybrid mode on long trips, I can save charge for city mode at end and still average around 50mpg on a decent run provided i stay within speed limit (so good for protecting license too!).
Very comfortable and I love the customisable dash display.
How reliable do you find the car?
Couple of odd problems which cleared themselves. On one occasion refused to run in E mode despite half full battery, but OK after full restart. Oter was forward collision sensor reported not working after snow (including after all snow melted and front of car cleaned), but reset after 4 days.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
Only frustration is with pre-conditioning, but that is possibly a compatability issue with my charger which appears to shut off when charging is complete.About their car
