Economy
Value
VW, always strong resale value and slow depreciation compared with Italian manufacturers.
Costs
I have given it a five review as buying parts is a rarity, VW dealer parts expensive, £400.00 rear exhaust box picked one up vehicle dismantlers £40.00.

On the road
Driving
Poor turning circle( Big Car Though, big as some estates) smooth solid drive. Not economical around town 30-38,44 mpg on long run.
Performance
1.8 underpowered for chassis size, gearing designed for family use not as a sportscar, have had 130mph, "should I have said that officer".

Living with it
Reliability
Owned the vehicle for three years started every time wind snow and rain, have full VW service history this is a big factor for any cars reliability. Wife flooded it once pressing the accelerator not the cars fault.
Image
Still a head Turner nearly ten years old. Colour is very important ours is metallic black, certain colours detract the cars image.
Comfort
We have driven to the ends of the earth in our Passat 400-500miles on one trip, ultra comfortable. Good rear leg room more than a A4 shares same engine.

Security and Service
Security
Never had the alarm go off. Has not been stolen yet.
Service
Dealerships have high overheads and specialised equipment for today's modern engines this is passed down to the customer, customer care is generally very good do search to find the better dealers. Margate VW in Kent is very good. Average service cost £183.00.
