Volkswagen Passat Saloon 2.8 V6 Syncro 4d Auto (1999/T) Owner Review

-
Economy
Costs
Overall reasonable, but disappointed to find myself with a £500 bill when the auto-headlamp leveling on the Xenon lights failed!
-
On the road
Performance
Effortless for such a large car. V6 never sounds breathless, and auto box is mostly well matched with very rare overrides from me.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Never let me down, even after 105,000 miles and 3 owners (touch wood...)
Image
Starting to look a bit dated compared to newer models, but still a car to be proud of.
Comfort
Quite a lot of wind noise, but suspect this to be a fault rather than the norm.

Security and Service
Security
No basis for comment really.
Service
Mostly good, occasionally patchy, depending on the dealership.
-
Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
None.
Other
Self-leveler on Xenon headlights at around 85,000 miles and 4 years left me with a bill of over £500!!
