Economy
Value
Very good when compared to its rivals.
Costs
Very economical on fuel, mid-forty mpg, and at 154g/km emissions, the company car tax is not too bad either.
-
On the road
Driving
Pleasant enough. Handling is rather flabby at best. Wind noise can be intrusive at motorway speeds.
Performance
The diesel lump provides plenty of grunt. Much better that the 2L petrol engine in my previous Passat.

Living with it
Reliability
Clutch fell to bit within 10 miles of delivery. Quickly repaired though and VW provided a replacment car within half an hour.

Good, stands well above the Ford, Vauxhall, Rover brigade.
Comfort
Good, the Highline model has a few extra bells 'n' whisltes over the SE. Heated, leather seats being the main extra.
