Summary
What does this car say about you?
"Hello there aspiring career-man with family."
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They thought it was quite posh
Would you buy this car again and why?
No danger. It cost almost as much in oil as it did in petrol.
What are you likely to buy next?
Bought a hot hatch to relive my hooligan driving days!
-
Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchise
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£8,000
When did you buy the car?
April 2005
Did you get a good deal and why?
Eventually - the salesman was obviously new and didn't quite grasp that he's supposed to start high, I start low and we then meet in the middle.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Expanding family meant my Ford Puma had to go
What was the dealer like?
Not great - Verve Wishaw were sluggish in the selling and pretty rubbish after sales. Mats and wheel trims shouldn't take 3 weeks and 10+ phone calls to arrive.
-
Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Cruiser more than B-road bruiser. Long distances were a doddle, but it lacked power and torque for sharp over-taking. Fast cornering was not its forté - it wasn't particularly fun or rewarding.
What's it like to park?
Pretty easy - but being a saloon, you just had to guess where the back ended!! Sensors would have been appreciated.
-
Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
A fair old bit - the water pump failed twice in under 60k, the radiator perished and leaked at 50k and it ate oil (long life synthetic at that!) at a fierce rate
What's most practical about your car?
The boot was huge, and there was plenty or interior space and cubby-holes
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Trip computer was handy and I had an after-market stereo fitted as the OEM didn't have a CD player.
