It's a great car to own and drive. I have done about 140,000 mile in last eight and a half years (8 1/2). Only spent about £900 so far on repairs and never let me down on the road.
Great car to drive. Very comfortable and reliable. My family loves it. It's a great cruiser on motorways and country roads. Lots of power and even after years of use and abuse still drives great. Turning circle is excellent and very easy to park in tight spaces without PDC. Leg room for rear passengers is excellent and lots of space in the boot.
Only a few disappointments 1) Dealers are not very helpful when you need them the most (wherever I went not much different) once you bought the car they hold you for ransom IMHO. - This is putting me of going for another VW 2) SE batch came with very little accessories as standard compared to rivals. 3) VW let their customers down big time by lying about the emissions
How reliable do you find the car?
Parking brake failure within warranty and repaired free of charge by dealer Oil pump failure within extended warrant - Dealer charged me about £250 for diagnostic and took nearly two months for a replacement pump. Refused to give me a curtesy car. After a few hot discussion and complaints to dealer's head office and consumer direct dealer agreed to refund diagnostic charges and gave me a cutesy car for the duration and appologised for the inconvenience. Replaced both drive shaft by an Independent specialist.About their car
