Volkswagen Polo Coupe GT 3d (1991/H) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
They've dropped in price recently and are big fun for the money.
Costs
Can be expensive, but try German and Swedish or find fellow enthusiasts for cheap second hand parts.

On the road
Driving
Good, fun car to drive. Slightly prone to wheelspin in the wet though.
Performance
Not the quickest car on four wheels, but it's enormous fun to drive.
-
Living with it
Reliability
The only time it's failed to start is when the battery is flat.
Image
Image is improving these days, as it's starting to be appreciated as Go-Kart fun, even by Corrado owners I've met. The GT and G40 are seen by some as spiritual successors to the legendary Mk1 Golf GTi.
Comfort
Not bad. Obviously not too luxurious, but the seats are firm and comfortable even on long journeys. I'd prefer to be in the front than the back, though.

Security and Service
Security
Standard alarm is worryingly bad, but does act as some form of deterrent. I've fitted a Thatcham approved alarm to mine for peace of mind.
Service
VW have proved to be fairly reliable, but over-confident of their abilities in the face of cheaper and just as able under-the-arches garages. Find a trustworthy non-dealer mechanic and take it there.
