Volkswagen Polo GTi (2010-2017) boot space, practicality and safety
The Polo received the maximum 5 star rating when it was tested by EuroNCAP. Volkswagen has added a lot of safety kit on the GTI. This includes ABS with HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assist), ESP (Electronic Stabilisation Programme) including EDL (Electronic Differential Lock) and ASR (Traction control), driver’s and front passenger’s airbags, side head/thorax airbag system for front passengers, driver’s and front passenger’s active head restraints, alarm with interior protection, electronic engine immobiliser, remote central locking and an XDS electronic differential lock for improved traction and handling.
Hatchbacks are usually fairly practical and the Polo offers a lot of load space for its size. The boot has 280 litres on offer making it big enough for the weekly shop or a few weekend bags. Adding to the practicality is the 60:40 rear seat split. Those longer or oddly shaped items can be loaded with ease thanks to the flexibility of the rear seats.
There are plenty of cubbies to keep bit and bobs in and the glovebox is of a decent size and should easily take an average sized A-Z street guide.
