Costs
Timing belt changed and major service cost £293 from a local garage. Would have cost a lot more at a VW dealer.
-
On the road
Driving
No problems. Steering can be heavy when parking, as this model has no PAS.
Performance
Sits easily at 70mph on motorway and is perfect around town.

Living with it
Reliability
Have only had it for 3 months with no major problems. Driver's side front suspension strut was making a tapping/clunking noise, but seems to have been fixed when it was serviced.
Image
Looks good.
Comfort
Seats are comfortable, with good back support.

Security and Service
Security
Came with a factory fitted immobiliser. No alarm.
Service
Have never used a VW dealer for servicing after looking at their prices, therefore I can't really comment. I take it to a local garage who are much more reasonable.
