Volkswagen Polo Hatchback 1.3 L 3d (1995/M) Owner Review

-
Economy
Value
Seems solidly built, so worth paying that little bit extra for.
Costs
I've had the car for 11 months now and all that's needed doing is the rear wheel bearings tightening.
-
On the road
Driving
Can feel skippy at high speed. Handles well around town.
Performance
The old 1.3 engine is punchy when you travel solo. Travel with 5 in the car and it's about as exciting as watching paint dry.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Starts with no problems.
Image
It's a good looking supermini and it hasn't really dated. The body coloured bumpers as standard really help the looks of the car.
Comfort
The seats are firm and cause back ache on long journeys. If you are a tall driver, legroom for the passengers in the rear is almost non-existent.

Security and Service
Security
It's got an immobiliser, but the door locks are poor. I have considered fitting an alarm.
Service
They seem helpful, but dealership labour is expensive.
