Economy
Value
Surprisingly ordinary prices? Paid above book for a p/x at VW dealer but worth the premium
Costs
Try using an independent VW specialist like John Austin in Marks Tey, Essex. I've had many years of good advice. Dealer servicing a bit steep.

On the road
Driving
Feels stable and quick during motorway commuting. Grippy and direct on back roads. Easy peasy in town. Willing, but predictable.
Performance
Compares well with other vehicles i've driven. Willing rather than quick. Less torquey than my old 1.6 Golf but quite sprightly.

Living with it
Reliability
So far, so good. Bought at 94K and i've done 3K in 8 weeks. So far, so good. Confident of a hassle free winter.
Image
Standard alloys, darkened lamps and black paint mine boy racery, but it looks good alongside the posh company cars at my office.
Comfort
Really supportive seats with good range of adjustments. Quiet and stress free. Back seat isn't terribly big -)

Security and Service
Security
My polo has a dealer fitted alarm. My colleague's BMW 3 series of the same age has the same thing.
Service
Terribly charming but we'll see how they react when something goes wrong.
