Value
Although pricing is expensive for servicing and so on, the degree of quality is streets ahead of its class. Overall good value for money.
Costs
Bits and bobs that go wrong are expensive from VW dealers.

On the road
Driving
A pleasure to drive most of the time.
Performance
Good acceleration from the 1.6, but doesn't seem as fast as it should. However, it packs more punch than other drivers expect on the road. Poor braking lets it down though.

Living with it
Reliability
Not as reliable as VWs of the past, but still good.
Image
Excellent image compared to that of its class. A far better quality car than people would expect. Big car feel for a supermini.
Comfort
Very comfortable seats for long journeys. Quality interior that you would expect of a more luxury car. Fairly scary body roll at speed from soft suspension.

Never been broken into, but it may not be as hard as you would like.

Expensive.
