Economy
Value
Bought well below book price - all the toys you need, ABS, Aircon, Electric windows/mirrors.
Costs
VW parts are pricey - but tyres are cheap, 40-45MPG on the motorway which is great for a 1.6.

On the road
Driving
One of the best small cars I've driven - was supposed to be for my wife, but I now drive it to work.
Performance
Nippy, surprises a few people off the mark, and it cruises at 70-80 with no problems at all on the motorway.

Living with it
Reliability
No problems in 8,000 miles, was a bit sluggish when I first got it, but it had only been used around town, now it's just fine.
Image
Seems to have a cult following with younger people, but you get a lot less respect on the motorway than when you drive a bigger car - Nice alloys on the GL.
Comfort
The seats in the GL are great - nice driving position, superb air con, which doesn't hugely impact your MPG - I use it for the daily commute, and even though I'm 6' tall, I fit in just fine.

Security and Service
Security
Came with a GT Auto alarm when I bought it, I believe this is standard fit - although I might be wrong!
Service
Not had a lot to do with the dealers, not needed a service yet, although I won't be taking it to a dealer when it does. Not many dealers carry a full range of parts though.
