Volkswagen Polo Hatchback 1.9 D L 5d (1999/V) Owner Review

Economy
Value
More expensive than its counterparts, but I was expecting reliability to come with the price tag.
Costs
Ok - not much better than more modern petrol cars I have driven. I've given up with the dealerships as they are expensive and extremely unhelpful.

On the road
Driving
Good and solid on the road. However, even motorway driving feels a bit sluggish with this model.
Performance
For a 1.9 engine in a small car, it's quite sluggish - around town or on the motorways.

Living with it
Reliability
Terrible!! The flywheel needed repalcing after 37,500 miles and despite still being under warranty, I was told it was not covered. 2 months later, bearings in the gearbox needed replacing.

Lots of them around...
Comfort
Fine in the front, cramped in the back.

Security and Service
Service
Flywheel not covered under warranty ('normal wear and tear'?). Cost £600 to repair. They don't want to know, but I'm still fighting...
