Economy
Value
Expensive when new, a better buy when used if it's been looked after. Top-of-the-range model.
Costs
Parts can be expensive from a main dealer, but plenty of sources for cheaper OE components, such as Euro Car Parts.

Driving
Goes well, stops well, handles nicely through the bends too. No complaints.
Performance
Rapid! Average economy, but it is a GTi after all...

Living with it
Reliability
Some electrical issues but all fixed under warranty. Cambelt tensioner went early, again under warranty though.
Image
I really like the look of this car, more so than the newer Mk6 Polo (2002-onwards). Nice.
Comfort
Great seats! Very comfortable, even for lengthy trips.

Security and Service
Security
Standard VW kit - immobilisers, deadlocks etc. Good stuff.
Service
Quick and efficient, if a little pricey!

Problems and Ownership
