Summary
What does this car say about you?
My Polo is entry level, it is my first car and was a good buy. I think it says I am a little tight, I have plastic trim, no alloys and it had a cassette player in it, I never knew they existed anymore!!
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Friends and family seem to like it, my parents were happy as it was safe and reliable. I have since been told by friends its a granny car/hairdresser car, but I love it.
Would you buy this car again and why?
I would buy another Polo, I have been considering upgrading to a larger engine, possibly a 1.4 TDI. Better fuel efficiency but same VW quality.
What are you likely to buy next?
I am likely to buy another Volkswagen next. The build quality is solid, great MPG and at a reasonable cost.

No
What price did you pay?
£5,250
When did you buy the car?

Did you get a good deal and why?
I paid £5250 for my 2004 Polo, it was in excellent conditon with only 15000 miles on the clock after 3 years.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
What was the dealer like?
I bought the car from a local Honda dealership, I have since avoided the local Volkswagen dealership because of the high prices. Honda seem far fairer.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Very easy to drive, I drove my dad's Astra before hand. Fairly similar to that really. The clutch on the Polo was a lot lighter. Took a few attempts to get going but got there in the end. It is very economical, it costs around £38 (average) to fill the tank (110.9p per litre). From one tank I can easily get 400 miles. the 1.2 12v 3cylinder engine does not guzzle fuel, as long as you keep it under 3000RPM, around 57mph. At this speed, the best I have got is 430 miles to a tank. I have seen a few other reviews at 320 miles to tank, maybe they drive harder than me, who knows.
What's it like to park?
Parking is very easy, there is very good visibility, large mirrors let you see exactly where you are going.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
So far, no major issues. Had to replace a headlight and the service light came on long before service was due.
What's most practical about your car?
The car has a large, easily accessed boot. Its not too high so I can get heavy items in with not too much bother. 5 doors are a lot easier to work with.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The cup holder in the dashboard is genius, drive with an open bottle of cola that can be easily reached and wont spill in corners or bumps.
