Volkswagen Polo Hatchback (2009 - 2017) 1.0 SE 5d Owner Review

In their own words
So typically I’ve mainly bought VW, however, over recent years have owned Vauxhall, Ford and Peugeot. I was looking for a good reliable car for my wife and daughter and decided on the 1.0 SE Bluemotion Tech 60HP. In these covid times we decided to buy the car without even test driving it and putting blind faith in a brand I knew. I had done some research on what we may want prior to buying this model, however, I didn’t really think too much about the 3 cylinder 999cc engine in it. After trawling the internet for hours more and reading many different reviews on this model from other well known motor journals and watching many YouTube videos on this model, I’ve got to say my heart started to sink! Fast forward to taking receipt of the vehicle, I expected very little from the car as reported by these various media posts I’d read and watched. So, I was impressed by the exterior styling and similarly once inside my in view was of typical VW quality I had come to know, expect and love. Only one thing left to do I think to myself and that is let’s take it for a spin or anticipated waft along my first drive.
Expecting to be disappointed and I wasn’t, far from it in fact, I continued to be impressed by this little polo. Sure it’s not a rocket and it obviously won’t keep up with more powerful cars, but I found it sprightly considering. In a world where we hear about the negative impact we are having on the planet and how we must act now to stop and reverse the impact we are currently having I don’t see why I would have chosen anything more powerful. Yes, you can compare it to cars from other generations in terms of BHP but you know what I found my driving style has changed for the better where I have become more relaxed behind the wheel and more considerate of other road users whilst other more powerful cars can go on their merry way. Do I regret buying this car? No. Would I buy another one? Yes, in a heartbeat.
