Summary
What does this car say about you?
I thought a VW would be reliable, but I was wrong.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Equally shocked that it has been so unreliable.
Would you buy this car again and why?
No, too unreliable and dealer service is hit-and-miss. Only one dealer was sufficiently helpful and sympathetic to an owner with a chronically unreliable new VW.
What are you likely to buy next?
Mini.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Refined and comfotable, but sluggish. Needs plenty of revs to keep up with traffic. High-gearing in 5th makes for relaxed motorway cruising, but economy is still not very good. 45mpg average. In-gear performance is sluggish.
What's it like to park?
Poor rearward and 3qtr visibility makes reversing tricky, but light steering is good. Quite big for a small car, so familiarity required for easy parking.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
SHOCKINGLY UNRELIABLE!! 1. Engine electronics failure on delivery. 2. Washer motor/pump failure 3 months later. 3. Peeling paint on rear bumper -no undercoat applied in factory. 4. Bulb light failure wiring defect -apparently unrepairable. 5. Boot locking mechanism frequently fails to lock. 6. Standard stereo frequently malfunctions with factory-installed AUX input.
What's most practical about your car?
Plenty of space, split level boot.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Good trip computer.
