Volkswagen Sharan 2.8 Carat VR6 5d Auto (1996/P) Owner Review

Economy
Value
You pay extra because it's a VW - good reputation as a company.
Costs
Don't pay for main dealer servicing, though saying that, a lot of the equipment is only diagnosible at a main dealer.

On the road
Driving
Like you are driving in a video game, I like it because I like limousines, but I suppose some 'drivers' would call it a bit disconnected.
Performance
Like stuff off a wotsit. The following car just doesn't expect you to accelerate at warp 7, watch out for people trying to out-overtake you! (don't worry, you'll make him look silly)

Living with it
Reliability
There was such a lot to fix. Watch out for leaking heater matrixes, you can tell if you've got one by the stink and the inability to drive more than 2 miles without steaming up the entire car to a point where it's unusable.
Image
Better than an Espace, more quality? (perceived) than a Galaxy.
Comfort
When I'm in bed, I dream of being in my Sharan.

Security and Service
Security
All my windows wind up automatically, my ignition is immobilised, the alarm switches on, and I've barely left my comfy seat.
Service
You are forced to use the VW diagnostics on occasion, but saying that (paying that) they do work. All my problems were resolved and I have a great car.
