Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace SEL 2.0 TDI SCR 150PS 4Motion DSG auto 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
It's a VW so obviously you expect to pay over the odds for the thing ! It is an attractive car and for 150 bhp goes fairly well. The allspace has a large boot if you don't use the third row of seats ,we purchased it so the dogs would have more room in the boot - we will never use the third row of seats.I must say I'm slightly disappointed in the quality of some of the trim fittings ,to my eye they look a bit cheap ,but everyone is a critic these days !! Compared to the Volvo XC60 ,my previous car ,I wished I'd stuck with Volvo ,still I didn't ,so it's a case of get over it ! On the fuel consumption side of things , I'm getting about 37 mpg ,which I guess isn't bad for a car of this size . What seems crazy to me is that the car is made in Mexico then when assembled it is shipped to Germany for a quality control inspection ! Which in my case wasn't very successful ! To me the steering seems a tad vague , although it drives well enough ,if you want road burning acceleration and sports car performance I would look elsewhere. Is it exciting,no it isn't but then you don't buy a car like this for thrills ! Had I had use of the car for a week or so I wouldn't have purchased it ,but as it was wife's turn to choose our next car I blame her !!! especially as she won't drive it because she tells me it's too big !! I give up !! As you can probably tell I'm not a professional car tester .I love SUV's ,well that's what the dogs told me to say as they love all the room there is for them . Getting back to the point ,it is a nice car but is it worth £37,000 and that's not with all the extras ,I don't believe it is .Then why did I buy it ? - see the bit about my wife ! I'll end now as this could turn into a rambling novel .
How reliable do you find the car?
Non of the above apply. Having had the car for just a couple of days I noticed that the off side mirror was dropping as it should when you reverse, but failing to return to its normal position,I then took it back to garage that sold it to me ,they had it for two days and failed to rectify the fault .They then told me they would have to contact VW UK to see if they had any ideas ,they didn't so VW in Germany were then contacted and said it was more than likely it was a software issue ,I am still waiting to take the car back to the dealer for the fix ,but I'm not desperately confident they are going to rectify this issue .I think it's amazing they can fit a device that cheats immission tests ,yet can't as yet fix a mirror problem.About their car
