Summary
What does this car say about you?
Says I have a family, but as its a VW it says I won't compromise on quality of vehicle and looks as much the part as other Executive class cars.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
My kids love it, they enjoy the space and privacy glass keeps the sun glare off. Others have said its a smart, classy looking vehicle and so much better than alternatives in this sector.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes. If you need a big family type car, this is better than the usual Estate option as you get so much more here. I looked at Renault Scenic, Ford S-Max, Vauxhall Zafira and none of them compare to the VW Touran. Their build quality felt cheap by comparison and the reliability rating on the Renault is poor to say the least. At the end of the day, the Germans know how to build a decent car that will stand the test of time.
What are you likely to buy next?
Well, I've only recently bought this. But, I am sure it will be another VW in a few years time.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchise
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£16,995
When did you buy the car?
April 2010
Did you get a good deal and why?
Purchased from Beadles of Maidstone. I got £700 more than the CAP value for our '57 Plate Corsa Design in P/X and this Touran was £1,500 cheaper than same model seen elsewhere with 9,000 miles, where the one I bought only had 4,000 miles.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Needed a bigger car for growing family, with flexibility provided by the x7 seat availability.
What was the dealer like?
Beadles is excellent. Stress Free, very pleasant, friendly and helpful staff. My Touran had to go back the following week for the Autogylm Life Shine Treatment, we got a brand new Polo for a couple of days. Also noticed one Alloy had kerb marks, so they refurbished the rim at no cost to myself.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
After a day of driving, it feels no different to say that of a Passat. The 1.9TDi has lots or Torque and even fully loaded its a very quick car. Its extremely quiet, very comfortable and being someone who has always been anti-MPV, I love driving it.
What's it like to park?
Pretty easy considering its size. The Park Assist that has automated parking is great, I like it more for the fun of it. I would advise the parking sensors just for piece of mind. Power Steering has good feel and all round visibility is very good too. No problems.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
No. I bought it as its a VW and having owned VW's in the past, I am pleased to have gone back.. very reliable/solid piece of kit.
What's most practical about your car?
Lots..x5 proper seats, plus x2 extra pop up seats in the boot, and you still have some boot space. Lots of storage areas for the kids bits and they love the fold up trays. Better than a tradditional Estate.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
This is a Match, so has lots of extras as standard. The Park Assist system is excellent for tight parallel parking and the sensors help confidence with size of vehicle. Just sit there, do the pedals and the car parks itself!!
