Fuel economy
A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test.
Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 41 - 61 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

Insurance groups range from 12E for the 1.2-litre petrol engine to 21E for the 2.0-litre TDI 168bhp diesel. BlueMotion cars return good economy and emit lower CO2 levels, so would be a good pick for saving extra cash.
The 1.6-litre diesel BlueMotion is the green pick. Thanks to stop/start and other ‘eco’ systems, this version emit just 121g/km CO2.
VW has a great record of reliability, and although there have been three recalls affecting the previous car they have all been for fairly minor problems and this model should prove fairly robust.
