Volkswagen Vento 2.8 VR6 4d (1992/K) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Excellent value second hand due to poorer image vs Golf.
Costs
Thirsty - it's a 2.8! Heavy on front tyres due to engine weight.
-
On the road
Driving
Wallowy front end with standard suspension - brakes OK.
Performance
Not as torquey as you'd expect - only really gets going above 3500rpm.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Early VR6 had loads of niggly problems, don't try and ignore as it will cost you more in the long run.
Image
Ultimate Q car, especially when debadged - even the police used them
Comfort
Air-con a must - don't buy without, decent cruiser - 70mph = 2700 rpm.
-
Security and Service
Security
Poor standard security reflected in high insurance group rating 17. Fit armour door plates asap!
Service
Fixed price servicing good, anything out of this is expensive.
