Volvo 240 Estate SE 5d Auto (1992/J) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Very well equipped - only complaint is manual rear windows. Parts reasonable when dealer can get them !
Costs
Sailed through 3 MOTs without a thing needed. Couple of breakdowns needing towing, cam belt failure and a burnt out HT lead. Fuel costs astronomical around town but 30+ on a run.

On the road
Driving
Extremely comfortable ride and sharp, precise handling which surprises the boy-racers.
Performance
It's heavy so its not a pocket rocket - but it does surprise the go-fast hatches with how quick it is off the line.

Living with it
Reliability
Generally very good but there are minor electrical niggles. Make sure you clean and replace fuses regularly as they seem to be the root cause.
Image
Its a Volvo... not a boy racer toy.
Comfort
Its designed for an arctic winter !

Security and Service
Security
Who would nick a 240 except a 240 owner.
Service
Used independents for service but Volvo parts availability very poor. Car off road 4 weeks after and accident waiting for a mirror!
