Volvo 440 SXi 5d (1993/L) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Depreciation on pre-94 models huge.
Costs
Still expensive to dealer service. Cost of electrical and overheating problems astronmical in proportion to job (even non-dealer).
-
On the road
Driving
Nice low ride. Sedate, but grips corners well with no nasty surprises.
Performance
Some mid-range poke from the 1.8. Don't expect to leave anyone standing at the lights.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Terrible (still unlocated after 18 months) overheating problems, problems with relays behind ventilation control module requires entire dashboard off. No fix, no demisting!
Image
Fine if you don't want to look like a boy racer.
Comfort
Love it! Great seats and driving position.
-
Security and Service
Security
Only average. Had aftermarket immobiliser fitted and use wheel lock as standard.
Service
Main dealer even did work without charge that wasn't covered by warranty! Servicing really good, but vastly expensive. Helps if you turn up with a well looked after car...
