Volvo 850 Saloon 2.5 GLT (170bhp) 4d (1992/K) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Paid under a grand for mine two years ago. The oldest 850 saloons are getting very cheap now. A lot of car for the money.
Costs
Insurance is quite high, but 29-30mpg is not bad for the age/performance.

On the road
Driving
Easy to wheelspin in the wet, but nice handling for the size and very comfortable when cruising on the motorway.
Performance
Feels like it has less than 170bhp, but very quick and safe overtaking and a great engine noise!

Living with it
Reliability
200,000 miles and hasn't let me down yet.
Image
Starting to look their age now.
Comfort
Great on the motorway, but a bit noisy over bumpier surfaces.

Security and Service
Security
Immobiliser and alarm for what they are worth, but older now and less desirable to theives.
Service
N/A. Never used the manufacturer for any parts. Plenty of good specialists though.

Problems and Ownership

Engine
Oil leaks. Not surprising considering age. Still pulls well and showing no sign of giving up.
