Volvo 940 Estate 2.0 SE Turbo 5d (1992/J) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
It has done the job it was bought for as a large load lugger and tow car.
Costs
Expensive service and petrol consumption but you can"t have your cake and eat it.
-
On the road
Driving
Smooth long distance cruiser. Heavy around town in spite of over-light power steering.
Performance
Slow to get moving due to bulk. Excellent mid-range overtaking power. Hardly notices a 1000kg trailer.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Quite a few minor niggles on the interior. Thermostat stuck causing a blown head gasket at 116,000 miles.
Image
Not the most beautiful on the road - personal choice really. People who buy this car are not really image conscious.
Comfort
Excellent, best seats I have ever had. Drove 1,000 miles without a twinge.
-
Security and Service
Security
Factory fitted immobiliser seems OK. Either that or the image protects it?
Service
Dealers can be very variable.
