Volvo 940 Estate 2.3 Celebration 5d (LPT) (1998/R) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Expecting twenty years of service and likely to get it too. Look how many of these older Volvos you see still in service - how many Peugeots/ Fords do you see of the same age?
Costs
No big expenses in seven years. Avoid Volvo dealers - most are useless - find local specialist. DIY ultra-easy, genuine parts easy to get from Euro car parts et al.
-
On the road
Driving
At it's best when loaded with swag. Otherwise it is ok. Gearchange a bit rough.
Performance
For it's size, it goes. Tuning for extra performance no problem - loads of internet support available.
-
Living with it
Reliability
70K, 7yrs never let me down. 30+ yrs of Volvo know how now sadly gone forever with FWD Ford muck now made.
Image
Doesn't get you noticed. Brilliant! The answer to the B.M.W-or-Mercedes conundrum. No more keys down paintwork. And takes an 8x4 sheet of plasterboard (jaws drop as it goes in)
Comfort
Vast passenger space. Super comfy. Lots of toys. Seats do not suit all so test first.
-
Security and Service
Security
Poxy factory alarm and no deadlocks. Safety is first-class though
Service
Volvo dealers useless and expensive - DIY is super-easy on these cars and internet support is excellent! Avoid FWD volvos and get yourself the original RWD home-counties armoured car
