Summary
What does this car say about you?
I think the car is smart without being flashy. It probably says that I like things that do what they say on the tin.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
It has become part of the family. Few can believe it is over ten years old as it has a clean modern appearance. Younger drivers are already commenting on its good looks in spite of it being an old lady.
Would you buy this car again and why?
I think I will keep this car forever, although, it might become my second "holiday tourer" alongside my more modern vehicle. It has kept its great appearance. It is totally reliable, fun to drive and is good for another 100 thousand miles.
What are you likely to buy next?
I already have another convertible which has a more modern engine and lower road tax. Modern engines are evolving rapidly but the Volvo is fantastic for its age. I love rag tops and have not been tempted by hard fold-away roofs.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£14,500
When did you buy the car?
May 2007
Did you get a good deal and why?
I got a fair deal. The car was in very good condition, with low mileage. Black with tan leather interior, the "Collection" included a pleasant selection of extras.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Best 4 seater convertible in its category. Roomy and reliable. Quick and safe. Good looking and reasonably priced.
What was the dealer like?
Dealer was fair but not especially interested in selling the car. I made the effort to buy it rather than have it sold to me.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
The C70 gives the equivalent of 6 cylinder performance from the 5 cylinder turbo. The acceleration in second gear is a joy, despite being a heavy car with all Volvo's accompanying weighty safety features. It sits fairly well in corners, doesn't judder or wabble.
What's it like to park?
It has a high "rump" so reverse visibility is restricted when the hood is up. Having reverse "radar" fitted has eased parking radically. Lock isn't great, so the turning circle is limited in tight situations but you learn to measure your spaces.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
After almost eight years of ownership and 113,000 miles, the car still provides great performance and reliability. The engine gives smooth and calm power and never faulters. Perfect emission results at every MOT.
What's most practical about your car?
The C70 is the perfect two-seater cruiser but accommodates 4 comfortably. Boot space is compromised by the roof storage but still allows fair holiday luggage.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
After the electric hood, which is reliable and slick, the comfort of the seats has to get a mention. Anyone hopping in the car for first time always comments on passenger comfort.
