Summary
What does this car say about you?
At the time it was purchased, it was a car I had always admired and could then afford to own. Bright red, black hood, black leather. It was not purchased to make any form of statement. I buy cars that I like.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
All loved it and all commented on how smooth the ride was on long journeys and how solid and safe it felt.
Would you buy this car again and why?
I did purchase another one. Same model, engine and trim levels but different colour exterior and interior.
What are you likely to buy next?
Another Volvo. Have tried other manufacturers but always end up back to Volvo. For the money, you cannot match the comfort, build quality, reliability and safety.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£6,500
When did you buy the car?
August 2007
Did you get a good deal and why?
It was a good deal at the time. Cheapest one I could find in the colour I wanted with the right miles (65K) and full Volvo service history.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Saw it, liked it, bought it.
What was the dealer like?
Very professional. Was extremely honest during the initial telephone enquiry, gave me a long test drive in the car and picked me up from the station on the day I went to collect it. Called me after a month to see how things were going with it and then called me at the end of the 3 month warranty period to see if I wanted to extend it.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
The chassis does not feel strong enough for the car on B roads or if pushed hard through accelleration and the car does not feel too well grounded in corners and can be bumpy. Motorway driving is effortless and it will just eat the miles with ease. It is more of a comfortable cruiser than a flash cabrio and is probably much more suited to its coupe version.
What's it like to park?
Rear visibility is poor with the hood up as the view through the rear window does not allow the driver to see the boot lid so a lot of it is guess work. I had no rear parking sensors and had to get out of the car a lot to check distances.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
The 3 CD cartridge did not like to play CD2 at all and would sometimes just randomly eject itself. Dealer had no idea why. I never replaced it - used ipod instead. No other faults whatsoever bar the odd bulb.
What's most practical about your car?
A genuine convertible that can comfortably seat four adults with ease.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Adaptive cruise control, stereo and power hood.
