Volvo EX30 Cross Country verdict

Should you buy one?
If it works for you, it’s a qualified ‘yes’. We like the Volvo EX30 Cross Country, not least because it is a cool-looking, slightly tougher version of the standard EX30, which is a very likeable small family car with a dash of SUV flavour. It offers added comfort over the standard car, more presence, and some extra confidence for winter driving or light off-road use.
However, its limited range, high cash price, and lack of trim options might hold it back from being a mainstream hit. However, if you love the idea of an electric soft-roader with premium appeal, it’s an excellent choice.
But if you just want an efficient, good-value small or mid-sized electric family SUV, the standard Volvo EX30 – or another more conventional rival, such as the larger Audi Q4 E-Tron or BMW iX1 – might be a better fit.
