Economy
Value
Excellent, that's the only word to describe it. Try finding a BMW, Merc or even Audi with this level of equipment for the same price.
Costs
Superb fuel economy for the size/ power. Servicing not cheap by all accounts, so find yourself a good independent garage once the warranty is up

Driving
Very little by way of body roll and superb levels of grip combine to make this a fun drive. If I had a complaint it would be the steering. Whilst it is very sharp, with good turn in, there isn't much feedback to let you know what the wheels are doing.
Performance
180bhp as standard is a good starting point. Plenty of shove if you put your foot down in second and third. 2.5k revs at 70mph means you don't notice the speed.

Living with it
Reliability
Occasional hesitancy to start but this is a known foible of this engine and apparently curable with a dealer software download. High miles aren't a problem so long as the service history is good (check for the 90k mile cambelt change) Buy with confidence!
Image
Trendy and original. About as far away from the traditional flat cap and tweed image of Volvo as you could get.
Comfort
Quite simply the most comfortable seats i've ever experienced. Add to that the dual zone climate, well positioned armrests and the superb Dolby Surround stereo and it's a pleasurable place to while away those long journeys.
