Summary
What does this car say about you?
I'm a guy who loves a decent motor, and who loves to be seen getting into and out of it. Washed and polished without fail each week. Paintwork still like new HONESTLY it gleams, when washed
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
they like it. since buying this one, my daugther has bought a S40, my other daugther also not has a volvo 850 GTL. (she'd wrapped her previous car around a lamppost, and only had TPFT, so lost all her investment in it) I decided to get her a volvo, but couldnt find a S40 in the price range i wanted to pay so got the beast (as she calls it) but she loves it really does.
Would you buy this car again and why?

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Having the 170BHP motor it cabbies along really well. I know I shouldnt, but I've had the top published speed a couple of times, which for a motor that now has juct clocked 181,000 miles isnt bad. She had 101,000 when I got her, so averaging 20,000 a year, (plus a fair few trips with our 25" caravan on the back. Top gearing is great solo, but just a little over geared when towing the caravan. But average 400-430 a tank. ( and I dont hang about normaly -6 points on liecence to prove it LOL)
What's it like to park?
Very difficult to reverse. I had a reversing kit installed within 2 weeks of buying it (40;00 to buy + 40:00 to be fitted) It has a brilliant turning circle, my previous car mondeo 2.o Ghia was like trying to turn a bus very poor.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Yes the Air Con compressor paxked in about 11 months after I'd bought it. apparently the cluch on the unit is expected to pack in around the 90,000 mile mark and mine had 122,000 at this stage. Apart from new knuckle joints and tracrod control arms, and new tyres all round. just the normal servicing costs. It gets serviced at a local volvo specilist garage (Volmech of Stockton, cleveland) who are much much cheaper than the main dealers.
What's most practical about your car?
The size and comfort of the car. drove it to spain last year, and it was brilliant never missed a beat, got out no problems with comfort, with the Wife and Daugther and grandson (and his own version of TOY'R' US in the boot
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The sound system factory fitty but absolutly brilliant. and the cruise control of course
