Value
ALL S80 98-2000 incl have major faults: These need replacing: ABS module £750 fitted, Mass airflow sensor £500 fitted, throttle switch needs replacing, steering rack problems.
Costs
Expect BIG repair bills!

On the road
Driving
Suspension harsh, steering so-so, ok for long motorway journeys.
Performance
Fast in a straight line, suspension too hard for comfort, too soft for performance. Runs out of performance at 140MPH.

Living with it
Reliability
No. Central locking goes, Lambda probe goes, ABS module fails, throttle switch fails. Gearbox cannot cope with hills (Don't take your S80 into the Alps - no engine braking downhill, because GB overheats and gears jump out all the time.)
Image
Looks OK - A shame about Volvo UK and their dealers.
Comfort
Would give it 5 stars for seats if it wasn't for the suspension which cannot cope with British roads (potholes).

Security and Service
Security
Very good alarm, sensors.
Service
Volvo will happily take your money. Don't expect anything for free.
