Volvo S90 (2016 - 2023) R-Design Plus T8 Twin Engine AWD auto 4d Owner Review

In their own words
I cover around 25,000 miles per year and have driven all of the major brands in my driving career, so when considering an "executive" saloon there were the obvious choices. I test drove them all. There were advantages and disadvantages to all as I wanted a hybrid car. BMW, Audi, Mercedes etc all make very competent cars, but as my office is 20 miles from home most of my mileage is done on battery alone. I found that the battery in all of the others wasn't as flexible as the Volvo's. It either kicked in too soon or depleted too quickly. When I travel further afield this engine takes care of the excess mileage with aplomb. The car produces 400 bhp, but weighs 2500 kgs so there is a trade off, but the lowered chassis on the R-Design handles everything that I would throw at it in normal usage. The interior is classy and the B+W stereo system is enough to either make your ears bleed or hear the 2nd violinist cough during their solo performance. Minor criticisms are the 2.0 liter engine can sound a little gruff and struggles when at slow speeds but having said that the engine sounds very purposeful when in performance mode and can pull a proper punch when using the turbo charger and the supercharger to full effect. The upholstery is already showing signs of wear that should not be present on £60 k car. Overall I highly recommend the car. In fact, i would go as far as to say I cannot think of another car which ticks all of the boxes quite so well, and that includes cars costing up to £75,000
