What does this car say about you?

A person who does not follow the crowd. There are far fewer Volvo V40's on our roads than VW and BMW's. I am happy driving any car but the V40 is a real Wolf in a Sheep's clothing.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

I have had positive comments on the modern shape and the colour. My eldest son thought it was a car for an old man. Since driving the Volvo he shares my opinion that it drives superbly. It fair to say he was amazed. He has a BMW Msport and had to admit the Volvo was a quick car with sharp responses.

Would you buy this car again and why?

We are very pleased with the car and would not hesitate in buying another Volvo. The car is good to drive and can really accelerate quickly. The car handles superbly and rides very smoothly on our poor roads. Considering the performance the fuel economy is great.

What are you likely to buy next?

I am familiar with both the BMW 1 and 3 series and also the Golf 2.0 litre. We had test drives in a number of cars before settling on the Volvo. I will definitely visit my Volvo dealership first when it comes to changing this car.

Did you get a good deal and why?

The price was competitive however the proof will be how the car performs over the next few years.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

The car offered good value for money considering all the extra equipment.

What was the dealer like?

Very friendly and helpful. We were not put under any pressure and allowed plenty of time to inspect the car.

What's it like to drive?

The D4 is very smooth and extremely quiet. The car rides over poor surfaces with ease and there are no nasty jolts. The handling is good and the steering feel is great. My previous two cars were a Golf and BMW 320d and the Volvo is much better to drive and its performance is linear and the car accelerates with ease.

What's it like to park?

The car has rear park assist and this is helpful due to the design of the car. Forward visibility is excellent and the mirrors give a clear view of the kerb.

Have you had any problems with the car?

The car is outstanding and everything works first time.

What's most practical about your car?

The rear back rests can be thrown forward in a single action and give a totally flat load bed. The car has a spare wheel which means the floor is raised and gives a load bay without a step.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The car has a lot of extras but the directional headlights are brilliant. The whole road is illuminated and really make the dip beam on my previous BMW appear like candles. They really are superb.
