After owning some 27 cars I hope my opinion counts! This little Volvo estate never fails to impress me, it cost me £500 3 years ago and all I've done is put diesel in it and changed the oil & filters every 4000 miles. It won't make heads turn or win any fashion contests but is safe, very reliable and comfy. Plenty of power and torque in the engine and fully loaded with kit - 4 electric windows/cruise control/aircon/full leather etc. etc. Show me another well built car with this spec for the money.
