Volvo V40 Hatchback (2012 - 2019) D2 ES (Nav) 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
There are as many positives as there are negatives; no road tax (emissions tax? Who knows what to call it these days) but a slightly lacklustre experience if you're not the driver.
Great economy, but impossible to see out of when reversing, even if you've dropped the rear headrests, or are a gecko.
Simple to own, operate, and hopefully maintain, but rarer-than-hen's-teeth DRL bulbs.
The cool floating centre console... that just wins.
Overall, I like it but I'd say choose your version carefully, and try and go down the Volvo Selekt route for a little piece of mind.
How reliable do you find the car?
Just one issue where a clip for the ECU broke or came loose which was trivial but shut the whole vehicle down. Volvo Assist was good initially but then there was pandemonium between them, the dealer, and Enterprise.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
Yep, it's the base model with Nav thrown in, bit there are things that annoy me; my 2005 S40 (also base model) had things which were useful like rear cup holders and the drop down table/armrest thing in the back. And more than one light in the boot, and the headlight bulbs were a doddle to change, saving a few quid at your favourite eager-to-help-but-it'll-cost-you motor factors.About their car
