Volvo V40 Hatchback (2012 - 2019) T2 R DESIGN 5d Owner Review

In their own words
A good car spoilt by some design faults and shoddy service from the dealer and Volvo. I bought the car as I have had Volvo's in the past and have been happy with them and their safety features, also it's the R Design in Rebel Blue. It's comfortable, fast enough for me and returns a decent MPG. Design faults I believe are: The car has auto lights but there is no way of telling if the headlights are on in poor conditions as there is no "lights on" illumination on the dash. If you have selected that the door auto lock on the move you have to remember to press the unlock button when leaving the car as the back doors, passenger door and boot stay locked, the amount of times I've had to press the unlock button on the key fob to open the back doors defies belief. A spare wheel option costs £250 (I wont drive a car without a spare or run flat tyres). Checking the engine oil is an amazing faff as it's electronic but it's immaterial at the moment as it's not working (another trip to the dealer) Faults with the car have been: Most of the road wheel nuts were loose on collection of the car (lost a locking nut which prompted me to check the rest) - dealer replaced the locking nut with limp apology. Clutch peddle squeak - lubricated by dealer. Juddering for the first 100 yards or so when cold - dealer 'rebalanced the cylinders' but problem still occurs. Door mirrors freeze in cold weather and wont unfold - on going problem for about 4 months, dealer wasn't going to replace them under warranty, had to contact Volvo myself, mirrors replaced but still freeze up, now no one seems to know what to do. No communication from dealer so I'll have to contact Volvo myself again. Oil level indicator not working - going to have to speak to the dealer on this one.
