Performance and economy are very good, averages mid 40's mpg. Also somehow only £30 annual road tax for the 6 speed manual! Not bad for a 215 bhp 2.4 twin turbo diesel! Seats are very supportive and excellent on long journeys. Load capacity is good but perhaps not as good as you would expect from traditional Volvo estates. Previous vehicle was a BMW 120d, performance wise its similar in a straight line but the Volvo picks up better from lower revs. The BMW however is better in the corners as you would expect. The V60 brakes are strong and pull the car up well from speed. The styling is excellent and people always comment on how good it looks. The 5 cylinder engine sounds great when pushed unlike the D2/D3/D4's I have driven which just drone, if you can afford it get the D5, you won't regret it.
