Volvo V70 2.5 20V SE 5d (1997/P) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Not cheap to buy, but then they are built to last. Mine has done 90,000 miles with full volvo servicing and the engine feels like its barely run in. My newer 40,000 mile Rover sounded like a tractor in comparison
Costs
Not experienced many yet, but should be low if kooked after properly. Fuel consumption is on the high side, espacially if you like using all 170 horses.

Driving
For a car this practical and big, it is an engineering marvel that it handles so well. This is not a track day car or B road fun machine, but it eats motorways for breakfast and thinks the south of France is only a short drive away.
Performance
get a V70R if you really want performance, the 2.5 20v is adequate for me, with plenty of power when its needed. The car never feels like its struggling, and overtaking is easy. Leaves MX-5s for dust.

Living with it
Reliability
Look after it, and it will look after you. I haven't had any problems other than a flat tyre.
Image
Volvo image is improving. V70 is colour sensitive, mine is black with rear spoiler and nice alloys, and when its celan it get plenty of admiring looks. The beautiful exhaust note from the 2.5 litre 5 cylinder helps. A real wolf in sheeps clothing.
Comfort
Best seats in the business, and more space than most 4x4s and People Carriers. The car makes a 3 hour journey feel like 2 hours.

Security and Service
Security
Not been tested, but remote alarm and immobiliser fitted.
Service
Not owned car long enough to tell, an active owners club helps
