Volvo V70 2.3 T5 5d Geartronic (2003/53) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Lost £20K in 2 1/2 years - that depreciation is insane! Has probably put me off buying new for good.
Costs
A set of 18" PZero's at £750; great tyres, but the cost?! 26mpg average means too many fill-ups for me.

On the road
Driving
Safe chassis at any speed. In its element on fast roads. Overtaking very easy.
Performance
Very quick - gearbox really rises to the challenge, except geartronic - a bit slow to change & engine-breaking too high in 2nd & 1st.

Living with it
Reliability
Never missed a beat. Drivers heated mirror replaced under warranty.
Image
The cap & labrador image is a hard one to shake off. Most people do not even consider it for this reason & that's a shame. The depreciation is a crime - this is a used bargain as a 2-3yr old car with FVSH.
Comfort
Sharp handling & firm dampers compromise comfort - best to avoid bumpy back roads - 17"-fitted 2.4T S60 much comfier.

Security and Service
Service
Some dealers quite good, some are shocking given you spend £35k on a car, you get very little respect for that. You'd have thought they'd want to keep you if your prepared to lose that kind of money.
