Summary
What does this car say about you?
I don't really care what it says about me
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They can think what they like!
Would you buy this car again and why?
Possibly - rather disappointed with Volvo UK's attitude over mass airflow sensor. Also - main dealers very expensive - find a good independent specialist and stick with them.
What are you likely to buy next?
Maybe another one of these, but would need convincing it was more fault free. I like the new Skoda Superb, the new Saab 9-5, and the new Mondeo. Heart lusts after an Alfa 159 sportwagon, but they're rather small!

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Independent
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£10,480
When did you buy the car?
October 2006
Did you get a good deal and why?
Bought ex-lease car with 75k on the clock and FSH - was cheapest D5 SE around with the spec I wanted
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Wanted a large comfortable diesel estate
What was the dealer like?
OK - one of Bristol's many independents.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Very comfortable, quick enough, picks up from very low revs, accelerates well, cruises comfortably at 80-100mph, handles well enough, lots of torque from turbo diesel lump
What's it like to park?
Bit of a barge - very large turning circle, but good mirrors help judge things
-
Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Yes - Mass airflow meter (about 85k miles) - did contact Volvo UK as it's a recall item on the continent - surprise surprise - they didn't want to know Intercooler for turbo started leaking at 120k miles - had it replaced.
What's most practical about your car?
Very square load bay - enormous - swallows all junk for a family of 5 - bicycles, guitars, amps, suitcases - never seem to fill it
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Smooth engine with loads of torque - very good acceleration for such a barge
