In their own words

Was looking for a Volvo s/w for a while. When a 56 plate V70 D5, popped up on Facebook. Had a quick look. Had a few issues but was a decent runner. Paid £1500.
Since purchase, has had 3 tyres, set of brake pads, and that's pretty much it. 2025 will cost a chunk though. 1 tyre, 2 headlights, rear silencer, front brushes, rear drop links z engine service, gearbox service, tailgate wiring repair.
The thing is, if you buy a 15+ year old car with more than 150k on the clock, you've got to expect an expensive bill at some point in time. This year will be mine. Alternative is get rid and buy someone else's problem, or repair what you already have. Having priced up the parts and doing majority of work myself l. Total cost will be approximately £830 all in. Timing belt due 2026. Handling, bit ain't no slouch but ain't no track day special either. It will get you from A 2 B safe, in comfort and warm. Mpg, week after purchase, drove from Lincolnshire to Germany and back. Brimmed the tank, got to the fuel station just off the channel tunnel, on the return leg. Showing 850 miles since fuelling, averaging 52 mph. Had 80 miles showing left in the tank, but 130 miles left to go. Slapped £20 in. Job done.
All I'll say, you take a risk buying any used vehicle. Look over it thoroughly and if on doubt. Walk away. I've dropped lucky with this one and don't mind spending a bit on it to put it right.
Would I buy another. Hell yeah 👍
