Summary
What does this car say about you?
Appreciate quality, safety and appearance whilst also not wanting to pay over the odds. The brand image of Volvo for me is pitched perfectly against BMW and Audi.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They love it.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes, for all the reasons mentioned, it is a great car. it is slightly thirstier than I would prefer, we get about 34 mpg from mostly country road driving.
What are you likely to buy next?
Probably the next Gen XC90 due to be released in 2015, as will need the extra space, otherwise would definitely buy another xc60.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Didn't buy from a dealer
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£24,750
When did you buy the car?
November 2013
Did you get a good deal and why?
Yes, car was priced very competitively from the start, good PX deal and hammered them, down in finance (don't ever go with the advertised rates as never ever are these the best deal).
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Always buy Volvo (better than BMW and Audi IMO, especially at the price), wanted a larger car (upgraded from C70) with ability to deal with the poor weather conditions we now get every winter. Also wanted something that looked good.
What was the dealer like?
Excellent (Marshall Grantham), very helpful and would use them again.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Very pleasant. It handles well for a large, heavy car, of course not as nimble as a mini but thats not why you buy one. The ride is smooth and comfortable on country lanes and it is a great cruiser. It encourages a slightly slower mode of driving as it is a such a pleasure to ride in. We tried the R-Design model but it was too firm and the seats were also not as comfortable (the ones in ours are like arm chairs).
What's it like to park?
Good, has parking sensors at rear so no issues, also has visual aid so you can see how close you are to objects behind you. frotn sensors would be useful, but easy to park without them.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
No - had for 3 months now and no issues.
What's most practical about your car?
It is large enough to carry pretty much anything we need, it is one of the safest cars on the road, the build quality is excellent, it looks awesome (we went for black with tinted rear windows) and it proved itself in poor condition during a week in the lake district over Christmas. I have never felt as safe in another car.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
The powered boot is excellent, especially for my wife who would struggle with a heavy door like this. the multimedia system is also good (if a little slow to respond to key presses). once you get used to it, very useful and the NAV is simply excellent.
