Volvo XC60 (2008 - 2017) D4 (190bhp) R DESIGN Lux Nav 5d Geartronic Owner Review

In their own words
We chose this over all the rivals, including prestige, because of the more traditional square shape - the boot is good, and many rivals are too sloping out o be considered anything more than a high up hatch.
Positives - spec'd up it looks great. We added £10k work or extras, from 20" alloys, to dvds, panoramic opening roof; integrated kids seats, winter pack, safet pack, Harmon Larson subwoofer sound system; etc. You name it, we ticked the box!
It has been totally reliable and economical.
However, some niggles. I've only ever had bmws or Mercedes and it's not a patch on them to drive. My 12 year old 3.2 V6 Merc is nicer to drive by far, and worth 10% of what the Volvo cost!
Biggest disappointments are: 1. turning circle is just awful. It's easier to park my fathers discovery4 despite being much bigger. 2. Sound system is too powerful for speakers which all rattle and sound blown already. 3. The sat nav is like driving with someone who is trying to send you over the edge! You can't select basic options such as fastest v's shortest, it takes you all over the show and to the point where it's not used as it's been so wrong so often.
My advice would be to go for it, and probably love it; if the brand is more prestige than you're previous cars. I've had a lot of cars and it's certainly better than anybfrench car, a ford, Vauxhall etc. But compared with its £45k rivals of jag, merc, BMW, Lexus and Audi, it's just not good enough.
Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
Engine sounds like an old tractor. Turning circle terrible. Sat Nav is not a joke.About their car
