Volvo XC90 (2002 - 2014) 2.4 D5 SE 5d Geartronic Owner Review

I live in the Scottish Highlands, I drive 22 miles to work each way, which has just about killed my Vauxhall Insignia and me. Flooded roads, pot holes, ice, snow etc.
So looked for something 4 wheel drive and safe with acceptable fuel consumption. (Vauxhall does around 47mpg).
What a difference driving to work, feel safe, comfortable and the dog has lots of space in the boot.
Big surprise is the fuel consumption averaging between 35mpg and 43mpg. My driving is rural roads average speed 40mph to 60mph up and down a few hills, not much traffic.
My wife drives a little Suzuki Jimny (When we moved from SE she had an MX5, but changed cars quite quick), the Suzuki is at s different end of the spectrum, my wife loves the Volvo also and feels very confident driving it.
So a car I bought for 2.5k for driving to work and back, is being used all the time.
My nice modern new Vauxhall Insignia estate (which is a great car) is going to be sold as I just don't use it anymore. Surprised just how good the XC 90 is.

Will probably buy a newer one once the Vauxhall has gone. But current one has full history, no problems and a pleasure to drive.
