One of the biggest car makers in the world, Ford was set up in 1903 by Henry Ford in Detroit, USA. The Model T, one of its earliest cars, was regarded as the world’s first affordable car and sold 15 million examples worldwide.

The Fiesta and Focus have been extremely popular cars for Ford in more recent years and the American company has one of the most comprehensive line-ups of cars on offer today. These include people carriers such as the B-Max and Grand C-Max, new 4x4 models such as the Kuga and small city cars like the strangely named Ka.

The first Ford factory in the UK was located at the Trafford Park in Manchester, where the Model T was shipped and assembled for sale in England. This was later joined by the famous Dagenham plant in Essex that now only builds engines.

Ford has also partnered with performance brands to produce some notable models including the Sierra RS Cosworth and the Escort RS Cosworth. Ford’s own performance models include the Focus ST and Fiesta ST, though the company is more widely known for its family cars such as the Mondeo, S-Max, C-Max and Galaxy. Ford is also famous for its vans, including the iconic Transit.
